A Tribute to the Life and Music of CHARLES BRADLEY
A Tribute to the Life and Music of CHARLES BRADLEY
A local music tribute to one of Gainesville's legendary sons CHARLES BRADLEY. Local bands will play songs from the entire catalog of the "Screaming Eagle of Soul" as well as originals inspired by his work, and some soul standards. It will be a night of remembrance and of celebration.

Born in Gainesville, FL and moved to New York at a young age, soul singer Charles fought bouts of homelessness and worked as a James Brown impersonator before getting his big break in his early 60's. He released several records on Daptone Records and performed at clubs and festivals all over the world.

In 2016 Glory Days Presents was fortunate enough to book him as the headliner for Changeville festival, coinciding with the re-opening of Bo Diddley Plaza. It was Charles' one and only show in his hometown of Gainesville, FL with many of his family members in attendance. Charles passed away in September after complications from an ongoing fight with cancer.

In memory of Charles, all door and ticket proceeds from this show will be donated to local charity HOPE LODGE and national charity ALL STARS PROJECT, per request of the Charles Bradley and Daptone Records family.

HOPE LODGE provides accommodations for those traveling to Alachua County for cancer treatment.
ALL STARS PROJECT provides after school music and arts programs for children in poor communities.
